1. Personalize the signatures as they run
As each signature comes out of the pocket and drops onto the chain, an inkjet can print on it — names, codes, versioned content. No second pass. No second machine. No extra operator.
2. Check that the right signature is in the right pocket
If you run menus, versioned catalogs, or variable books, a wrong signature in a pocket means a reprint and an apology. A camera in the line reads a barcode on each signature and checks that the right one, in the right order, is on every book. If it's wrong, the line tells you before the books ship — not after.
3. Address the finished books at the end of the line
Books, catalogs, and magazines leaving the stitcher need addressing anyway. So put a mail table and inkjet head at the end of the line and do it right there. The finished, addressed, mailable product comes off the same line the flat signatures went into.
4. Sort the mail through your stacker
If your stacker is smart enough, we can tie the addressing system to it. The inkjet reads the sort marks in your mail file and signals the stacker. Your books come out the back in sorted bundles — built in line, not on a table afterward.
