Product Details

▶ Watch on YouTube

The Formax FD1406 is a mid-volume tabletop pressure sealer — sitting between the entry-tier FD1000 and the production-tier FD1506. This video shows the FD1406 processing pre-folded pressure-seal forms at production speed, sealing the form edges in one pass through the press.

What this video shows: The FD1406 feeding individual pressure-seal forms, registering each through the fold path, and activating the pressure-sensitive adhesive along the form's sealed edges. Form throughput, registration consistency, and seal quality on Z-fold and C-fold sheets.

Who buys the FD1406: HR and payroll departments running weekly or biweekly paycheck batches. Accounts receivable teams producing monthly invoice mailings. Tax preparers and accounting firms running 1099 and W-2 cycles each January. Membership organizations mailing dues notices. Schools and government offices sending secure correspondence.

Why pressure-seal beats envelope inserting: Pressure-seal mailers eliminate the inserter step entirely — print, fold, seal, mail, in one workflow without a separate envelope. They cost less per piece, run faster, and produce a sealed mailer in roughly half the time of a print-fold-insert-seal cycle. For documents under four pages, pressure-sealing is almost always the lower-cost option.

Frequently asked

Can the FD1406 handle 14-inch (legal) forms?

The FD1406 supports several common form sizes including 8.5" x 11" and standard legal-tier variants — form compatibility is configuration-dependent. Confirm your specific form spec when sizing the unit.

How does the FD1406 compare to the FD1506?

The FD1506 is the production-tier step up — higher throughput per shift and faster job-changeover. The FD1406 is the mid-volume sweet-spot for operations doing thousands (not tens of thousands) of forms per day.

Is the FD1406 right for a small payroll department?

If you're sealing under a few hundred forms a week, the entry-tier FD1000 is usually the right fit. The FD1406 pays back when weekly volumes consistently exceed a thousand forms or when seal quality across multiple form types matters.
